What is an EPC?

An Energy Performance Certicate is a measure of the energy efficiency of a building. It sets out the amount of energy required to heat and light the building and the amount of carbon dioxide needed to heat and light the building

Do I need an EPC?

If you lease or sell any property you will require an EPC as soon as you market the property. The exceptions from this are properties of less than 50 square metres, places of worship or buildings about to be demolished. Buildings are also exempt if hey are solely for storage with no conditioning of the interior such as heating.

How much does an EPC cost?

Cheshire Energy Assessors charge £60 for residential properties and from £350 for commercial properties. Please see our EPC price list for further details.

Who can provide an EPC for me?

EPC’s can only be provided by persons with the appropriate EPC qualifications (dipDEA for domestic property and dipNDEA for commercial property). Assessors must also be accredited by a recognised Board and hold appropriate insurance for the provision of EPC’s.
